Durian Party 20220723
Durian fragrance was very unique. It spread in the direction of the wind. When we walked towards the event site near the Residents’ Network (RN) Centre in Tampines Changkat on Saturday, 23 July 2022, from far we observed that the void deck where we used to walk around were well set up with rectangular tables. Fruits such as rambutans and longans were already placed in the middle of each table. The guests were greeted by many dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers. We registered ourselves with the coupons we received in advance. Guests were comfortably ushered to their preferred seats on a first-come, first-served basis. Very soon, durians were brought in by the volunteers to where we were seated. Freshly opened durians gave us the good visual feeling. These finger food needed no introduction as they were familiarly known to us especially during the season. They tasted good for those who enjoyed eating durians along with other tropical fruits. The taste travelled and stayed around the palates for a long time. The Member of Parliament, Mr Desmond Choo happened to be the Mayor in the Northeast CDC also took time to come along and mingled freely with the residents. Neighborliness and friendliness seemed to be spreading in all direction among us. The Chairman and Members of the Organizing Committee were generously helpful in getting the event organized in their utmost best as we could observe it very clearly. Kudos to all the cheerful volunteers and staff in the midst as it was good that they had made the event very enjoyable.
